Cassie is a certified Assistant Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework®, and coaches privately in Portland, Oregon. She first discovered Fitzmaurice Voicework® when she began graduate school at Florida Atlantic University in 2008, and has worked with the technique ever since. Fitzmaurice Voicework® has been developed over the past 40 years by Catherine Fitzmaurice, and focuses on freedom of breath, physical and vocal presence, and the dynamics between body and voice.
Fitzmaurice Voicework® is geared not only toward actor training, but toward anyone who uses their voice and communication skills as a primary part of their daily activities (i.e. lawyers, executives, anyone doing types of public speaking), and combines ideas from breath management, yoga, Reichian bodywork, and a variety of other physically-centered techniques and practices. You can read more about Fitzmaurice Voicework® on the official Fitzmaurice web site, in addition to finding more information about workshops, teachers, and publications.
Study Fitzmaurice with Cassie
Cassie focuses her private coaching in Fitzmaurice Voicework® on the individual student, addressing the unique experience and needs of each, and working with students at their own pace and in their own ways to explore the different aspects of Fitzmaurice. Cassie also combines this work with a variety of other approaches to voice and actor training, with a specific interest in the body - in an actor's physicality - as a connective link between voice, thought and action. She has also taught in a variety of classroom settings.
Cassie is currently accepting private students on an ongoing basis, and is always happy to talk about her process of working and how it might address students' specific needs. For more information on Fitzmaurice Voicework® training with Cassie, contact her.
